"Kids Space พื้นที่โบยบิน" is one of the top 10 outstanding works in the campaign "Thinkster x 'เขียว ที่ คิด' พื้นที่สีเขียวเป็นอะไรได้มากกว่าที่คิด ('Green in Thought': Green space is more than what you think.)" The interpretation of green here goes beyond nature; it also refers to a safe zone where kids can be themselves and fully develop.
The Interview
"Children are the future of the nation. They are the ones society hopes will grow up to be better individuals. However, on the other hand, the space for learning and the space for their freedom are not sufficient to let them roam and have genuine fun. Wouldn't it be better if these children had a space where they could truly enjoy themselves?
Thinkster invited 'Wara' Waragorn Petchyian, one of the winners of the Creative Brief 'เขียวที่คิด', to talk about the project called 'Kids Space' that will take all children on a soaring journey of fun in this enchanting garden.
Wara mentioned that when she first saw this challenge, she thought about small children because a green space doesn't only mean having trees or grass. For her, green represents safety, and this space is like a safe haven for children.
"This idea actually came from this year's Children's Day celebration, which was booming. But beyond Children's Day, we hardly see any other promotions related to children. Young people or those who have grown up might have their own spaces, their own communities, but for small children, they only have their own space on that one Children's Day.
"When there are spaces for others, there should also be spaces for children. So Kids Space becomes like a dreamland where every child has the freedom to do whatever they want.
"If you look at the illustration, it should be viewed from bottom to top. I start by drawing a toy in the shape of an egg at the bottom, as if we just hatched. Playing with toys for children is like having good health and having fun within.
"In the middle, we added experiences from our childhood. Like characters from Harry Potter or cartoons like B1 B2, which kids nowadays might not know much about. We incorporated that because anyone who has experienced this will reminisce and relate to it, or those who haven't might be curious to learn about it.
"As we move up, we add our own identity. We get creative; we do art; we get to know other friends until we reach the top, where we draw a bird lounging with its wings spread, symbolizing that we are ready to take flight towards freedom.
"Once, when I visited Germany, I saw people playing with bubbles just like how we blow them here, but they made them bigger for the kids to see. It was just a small group of children, but there was something special about that space that brought joy to the kids."
In addition, Wara also discussed the problem of equality in the education system between Bangkok and other provinces, which have significant differences in terms of structure and access to fundamental learning resources, essential factors that enable effective growth for children.
"I hope that there will be organizations that see the importance and pay attention to the growth of these little future pillars of the nation because people often say that children are the future of the country, but we haven't really created anything for these little ones' future."
Finally, Wara encouraged anyone with good ideas but no platform to share them to join the fun activities at Thinkster. Besides being a website that opens opportunities for everyone to create their own works, it also serves as a gathering place for like-minded people to share their creations together."
